Metta Mindfulness + Meditation Center, LLC is a meditation and wellness center owned by Becca Peters, located in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City. It is a place to learn, practice, share, and grow. It is a place to come together and to try on new ways of living life, a Mindful Life. Whether your heart calls for individual therapy by a licensed clinical social worker, meditation instruction to practice living in the present moment, or a warm and welcoming mindfulness or compassion class to gather with a community of learners, Metta welcomes you. We welcome everyone who is curious about what it means to be human and who wish to live with greater ease, connection, and joy.
Metta translates to “Loving-Kindness” which is the foundation of Becca’s approach. Metta Mindfulness + Meditation Center, LLC is a place to explore the whole person, uniquely, professionally, and with great compassion. Becca Peters, proprietress, originally started Metta (which means Loving-Kindness) as a private practice for clinical psychotherapy. Over time, and through deep and transformational studies at UCLA's Mindful Awareness Research Center as well as Stanford's Center for Compassion and Altruism Research, which is housed within Stanford's School of Medicine, she realized there was something more to offer the community. The world we live in encourages us to hide suffering and to show only the shiny parts of ourselves; this dis-integration is often what we call suffering. We understand through direct experience and current scientific research, something that has been understood in contemplative cultures for centuries. We know that when we lean into our own suffering we make room for boundless joy. We are reminded that we are not alone, and that we are truly connected to the world. The staff at Metta are here to share tools and practices to reflect your own innate intelligence. We are here to support your process of healing, growth, and integration, of course, with Loving-Kindness.
